Joburg Sports Facilities Set for Upgrades

Sporting communities in previously disadvantaged areas such Lenasia and Orange Farm will soon benefit thanks to the multi-million rand programme initiated by the Gauteng Sports Confederation aimed at the Johannesburg area.

This GSC has raised an amount of R5million for the building and upgrading of community sport facilities in partnership with the Gauteng Gambling Board. The main objective of the project is to assist in the creation of sustainable sporting environments in which the participating communities of Gauteng will, in conjunction with schools and sport federations, participate in sport and healthy, physically active lifestyles.

In Orange Farm, the Orange Farm Cricket Club, which serves all 22 primary and high schools in the area, will have a sight screen and three nets built at the Chris Hani Sport Complex.
